Saint Rita of Cascia is one of the most powerful women in the Church we will write about. She is a role model for women of our generation. There is nothing that any woman has experienced that Rita has not known. She was an obedient daughter, a faithful wife, a battered wife, wife of an alcoholic and woman-chaser, a widow, a single parent who lost her children when they were young. She was a Nun who was unwanted by her Community. She was given the gift of the Stigmata1, a thorn in her head. Her body is incorrupt, never having decomposed after 600 years. She is considered the Saint of the Impossible.
